Hi Soapmaking group! Have been a member for some time now and reading the email posts. Just amazed at the depth of knowledge, experience and techniques. Grateful for this grooup!

I made some soap according to Susan Cavitch’s book and did well except for one batch. Only followed basic recipes and didn’t make a lot. I surfed the Internet quite thoroughly at that time and found only one article about using a stick blender, so I did and it was great. This was back in ‘99-‘00. Am working to prepare myself for making pure holistic soap once again and have some questions:

* For ROE is this the same as Rosemary CO2 antioxidant extract? I like to purchase from —From Nature With Love, and this is what they have, two different ones;

25% DTP
14% DTP

What does the DTP mean?

* How do I know how much to use per batch?

*. I guess the CO2 processing makes this not a pure item?

* I is there any other pure ROE, if so where can it be bought?

* Also in one of the Soap Queen’s book she recommends adding vitamin E to the soap batch as an antioxidant, but gives no details. Can anyone help me with the details of doing this?

Thank you all so much for reading my long post!!!

Chris

Ok.
I think you're going to have to give us some of your definitions here.

What is holistic soap?

What is your personal definition of "pure" in this context?

Also, try searching the forum for ROE and Vitamin E. You may find why you're looking for pretty quickly.

I know that ROE is Rosemary Oleoresin Extract. It's used as a preservative of sorts so that soap doesn't go rancid. Yes do a search on here & you will get tons of information. Have no clue what DPT stands for so just call From Nature with love & ask. Holistic is a natural way of healing. Using herbs, etc. @artemis . I am new and love learning about all things soapy & sudsy. ETA: Yes you can get pure ROE from WSP.

Yes, but what is "pure holistic soap"? Soap cannot heal anything and potentially beneficial additives are often destroyed by the saponification process.
Natural & pure are generic words to me. Take it for what it's worth. Vegan, organic, yadayadayada..... marketing words in other words. But yes on a chemical level, certain oil & butters change drastically during saponification so knowing all that , again, what is natural & pure?

OK, so here we go. DPT stands for Diterpene Phenols. The higher the percentage, the more benefits it will have. (Info from-From nature with love) Now google Diterpene Phenols and really go down the rabbit hole. ;)

My soap heals the state of dirtiness of my skin - there you have it, it's holistic soap 😅
