Kind of a scary question for a CP soap lover

To be honest I am probably lucky, but I don't use anything on my face. I have used expensive facial washes, and then tried several different homemade soaps. But since I have started just using plain old water my skin is very happy. No dryness and just 2 breakouts a month which I call my "harbinger zits." Soap is cleansing, like others have said. It's job is to break down and wash off the oils and dirt on your skin. If I was inclined, I would probably continue to try and find a recipe that worked. But if your old regime was working, maybe just stick with what works?

Another alternative to wash your face is with a scrub. I generally don't wash my face (nor the rest of my body every shower, I generally just rinse myself and use soap or a scrub every so often), but I use a home made sugar scrub to get rid of the dead skin cells from time to time.

My scrub recipe is something like half oil, half liquid body soap, and enough sugar to soak up the mixture. I don't religiously measure what I'm doing anymore. It's great on the body but you have to rub more gently on the face to not scratch too much cause the sugar particles are quite big.

I have the same problem with CP but not HP..thought I was doing something wrong.
Love CP for the lather and the hardness but found even my conditioning soap was more drying.

I have the same experience...I have made and used CP and more recently HP and I am amazed at how moisturizing and mild the HP can be...I add my extra oils of Rice Bran or Shea/Mango butter and EO's after the cooking process so the lye doesn't affect them at all...they just stay in the soap as they are. The funny thing is as much as I love the HP soap I make on my hair and body..I have oily skin so it does cause me a bit of a breakout sometimes....which the CP is actually better for my face :p
