I dont know why i did it but i put 5% kaolin clay in a batch of shaving bars (cp). The soap should have cured by now but it's still very soft, i never had a problem putting clays in mp soaps this is the first time ive done it with cp soap. just wanted to share my disaster so no one else wastes a batch :(

Kaolin in CP

I use Kaolin all the time in my cp soap. My batches are 58 oz and I usually add 2 tbs to 1/4 cup with no problems. In fact my soap usually hardens very fast with the clay additions. Maybe the softness was another problem.

Maybe if you make a list of all the ingredients you've added to your CP we can figure out why it hasn't hardened. I know excess castor oil and a few other oils tend to make a much softer bar and that's why they are used in very small amounts for a moisturizer.
