If I use leftover shreds, which may have come from 3 different soap formulas with different ingredients, how do I label soaps? Is there a way to streamline ingredients such as “soap, fragrance, and mica coloring”? Or do I go with “may contain” and list all possible ingredients? If I go the “may contain” route, I still won’t know exact percentages to put ingredients in the correct order for my vegan vs lard soap shreds. There is no problem so small that I can’t make it complicated! 😆

Am I the only one who didn’t figure this out already?

I take the "may contain" route and do my best to put things in descending order.

Remember that in the US, there is no legal requirement to label something that is a true soap for which no claims are made. If it is labeled, there is no legal requirement to put the ingredients in descending order. :)

@ScentimentallyYours I think either way would be fine and you could guesstimate the order, e.g. castor oil would probably be the least. I take the easy route, coloring: mica, and just say fragrance: either my name for the custom scent or just what the scent is, e.g. lavender & jasmine. My understanding is you don’t have to say what is in the fragrance and I don’t if the fragrance is my custom scent.

I'm a little excited at the thought of it😁
It's a fail. But, I learned. Thicker trace. Better suspension of confetti (way to much on the bottom). And more iron oxide. I was aiming for black. Got grey.

HO sunflower oil. Unscented. 1/8 tsp black iron oxide. confetti made of 3 different soap trimmings:
  • Mango scented Shea/mango/PKO/castor
  • Grapefruit scented Shea/CO/castor
  • Tonka& tobacco scented CO
