It worked!!

Both batches yesterday worked!! As you may remember, these were my very first tries at soaping.

However, there was a thin coating of oil. Couldn't tell if it was FO or lipids. It wasn't actually on the soap, but on the outside of the paper.

Anyway, I've got it sliced and waiting for pix

yeah, i understand the addiction. i've got several more scents (paradise, liquid crack, coconut pear, santa's pipe, cool citrus basil), but I just used some loaf pans (literally, bread loaf pans), and don't really care for them as molds. it's gonna have to wait until I can get to Menards to buy some PVC or downspout.

it's driving me nuts that i can't use them for what seems like an eternity!! not only can i NOT use them, i won't know if i like this recipe or how to tweak it, until they're ready.

Oh, oh. He's got it bad. Loads of folks "cheat" and cut off a little end piece after a few days to try out their soap. :wink:

Congratulations!

Indulge yourself in a little end sliver after a few days. It won't be as good, long lasting, or as mild as it will be in a month, but you can at least use your creation.

Congrats!! I know the feeling of being impatient... so I bought a couple other soapers stuff to try it out and give me a base idea for what to look for (like and no like) in my own soaps. I'm just now starting to the point where I can use my first few batches and I'm in love with it!! I even doubled my batch size (better mold) and bumped from making one to two batches at a time. LOL It seems to be enough to hold back the tide a bit. Before you know it, you'll be looking at buying oils in small bulk and trying to find outlets for your wonderful soaps.

Okay, here are the pix. Both are 52% lard; 24% each CO and EVOO.

First is rosemary mint from WSP, colored and enhanced with rosemary powder (i put lots and lots in ; supposed to be good for the skin)

Next is Sweat Pea from DayStar, colored with neon pink liquid Peacock colorant.

the peacock color is excellent. i've never heard of rosemary powder to be good for soap, another good tip

as for the rosemary powder, the following is from WSP's site (where I got it)(in case you were interested in what it is supposed to do)

Points of Interest:
Rosemary has antioxidant properties which help fight free radicals and helps you combat the visible signs of aging. Produces a natural green color. All Natural.

WOW..those are some amazing first soaps. I soaped a year before I had the courage to try colors. (I am a soaping coward for sure!). By the way, a cardboard paper one quart milk carton makes a great soap mold. You just pour it in, prop it up somewhere swathed in towels, when done, peel it off and discard. I save all my half and half cartons and one quarts. I have a bunch of real molds, but these are so easy peasy and they make nice, hand sized square soaps.
