Yes! Anyone thinking about making lip balms definitely should! One great thing about making your own is that you can customize it to what you like. Make tiny batches because it doesn’t take much to fill a tube. There are lots of great recipes posted here.
Most of the different specialties, balms, butters, lotions, and soaps use the same oils too. Just saying.
You can set up your whole skin care life with a few core oils (many from the grocery store). Or have more options for income. Lots of experience to learn from on here!
I don't think I would soak it in anything that had any lye - just in case! I wash mine with Dawn Powerwash, wipe out as best I can, use heat gun on stubborn spots, wipe it out again and call it good.
Those, "should", be fine in lye from what I understand. I get mine in plastic bottles. most plastics are lye safe. However, not all plastics are the same these days.
I'd go with @melinda48 on that.
