This would be my third batch, first one looked like this

and second like this

For third i was thinking about making black and white soap with some swirls. Since i need white i could use lard, and black part would be coloured with active charcoal. I have some EOs coming too for manly man soap (what EOs are good for man soap?).
Apart from lard , i have some OO and some castor. But, with OO i would get yellow soap (like in castile in second batch) and not pure white as i plan, so dont know what to add with lard to get pure white? I have never worked with charcoal and EOs , so it would be good practice.

I'm very impressed with your first batch. I'd have assumed you had been soaping for quite awhile if you hadn't mentioned it was your first one. The second one is nice, too. It's very creamy looking.

You can use titanium dioxide to for keeping a batch white. There's been numerous discussions about TD that you can search for on this forum. You could also just google to find the info.

As for masculine scented EOs, you might find this info from AromaWeb helpful.

My male relatives like lime EO combined with mint and thyme. But it's really going to be personal preference.

Tnx all, first soap is lard(70%),castor(4%) and Olive(26%) colored with black cofee and second is pure castile (100%OO). Since i always had bad marks from chemistry i thought that soaping would be harder but i found it pretty easy and satisfying. I really like thought process about soap components, colours, fragrances, shapes...
It seems i managed to order few man EOs and bought active carbon from fish store (they use it in fitration) and gonna check TD if its available here in Croatia. I could order it online but im in a hurry ;)

If you don't want to buy TD yet (just starting out) you can get white using coconut oil and even from a light olive oil, but it also really depends on your additives.
Good man scents: woodsy or spicey EOs. Be warned! The first one I tried to do was Cedarwood, 1 oz per pound. Waaay too much. I should have gone .5oz.

your soaps are LOVELY!! Congrats! You're turning out soaps like an old-timer! What about sandalwood for a scent?

Tnx, I dont have experience with fragrances so i dont really know about sandalwood except its for man. But, i have it on order and ill check it out when it comes

Beautiful soaps majstro!!! My hubby likes anything spicy...cinnamon, clove if you have a hard time getting certain fragrances in Croatia. Speaking of Croatia planning a trip there this fall with my family...my dad's parents were immigrants from there so we're going back to learn about our heritage...my dad has been back there twice so we convinced him to go and be our tour guide....I'm sooooo excited :D

fantastic soaps!

i make a honey and oatmeal soap for my other half and he likes a swirl of ground cloves and cinnamon - handy to do as you usually have them in the cupboard. the clove scent is very nice.

i also find that a 70% coconut, 30% olive gives a nice white bar, even using evoo.

Yes, between two wars lots of Croatians emigrated to states, in CA theres 40k croats and their descents. Lots of heritage back here, about 1000+ years set in stone, so i think you gonna like it. You can contact me if needed.

That honey and oatmeal soap sounds good, ill put it in my to do list. Whats the function of oatmeal? Dead skin removal by abrasion? Coconut is really expensive here, ill omit it for now from receipts.

oatmeal is soothing if you grind it to a flour. my husband has ezcema and doesn't like the scrubby effect if left whole. add it at trace.

i buy my coconut as frying oil in blocks in the supermarket - do you have aldi or lidl stores? they sell these blocks, they cost here about 3 to 4 euros per kilo. the ingredient listed is COPHA, which is coconut.

ouch!! i feel bad paying 2.40 per litre here in france! and that's evoo.

you might have leaderprice also - their blocks of 'friture' oil are PALM, not coconut......... good luck and looking forward to seeing your next creation!

That 4-5euros for 1L is relatively good price, usually it goes for 6-7 or more. I guess the lower the standard higher the prices.

Been in Lidl today , no Copha or similar. I can order it online but with shipping it will be too expensive. No Leaderprice here too. I guess ill have to use something else, maybe some filler oils .

that's a shame - i just looked online and to send 5kg from here to croatia would cost over 33 euros with our postal system - i HAD intended to offer to post some over to you but at that price i think you could do better ordering online!

you might like to look at
http://www.aroma-zone.com/aroma/accueil_fra.asp
it's in french but is not too difficult

here is the us version
http://www.aroma-zone.com/aroma/accueil_us.asp
the us version seems only to offer essential oils.

you could request a catalogue - they offer free shipping worldwide if you spend over a certain amount. if you see anything you need translatiing, i can help.

Oh no , i really preciate it, but i would never allow to burden somebody with shipping even if it would be much cheaper. And besides, Croatia is not yet in EU so i would pay taxes for package and this and that.
