Kevin, my super sweet hubby, has patiently supported my in my soapmaking efforts for years now. He's never said a single word about the thousands of dollars I've spent on supplies, molds, packaging, all of it. He's built me molds, chauffeured me around to search for just the right tool, even joined me for coffee or lunch with a couple of other soapers, never acting board with our 'soapy talk'. However, he never took much interest in the actual process.

Today that changed! He watched me make a batch, asking questions and noting procedures, then he did it himself! He made a batch of Guava Fig, from the measure to the pour! He textured the top, added silk to the lye, kaolin clay to oils! He tucked the fresh soap into the heating table, covered it all and is now waiting for gel! I'm so proud of him! He's a soaper now!

:D

You know what they say "Couples that soap together..... "

That is awesome.
I wonder what happens when 2 people are addicted to making soap in the same house. Would be a ton of fun though..

I doubt he will ever be addicted, but I am thrilled he understands what I'm doing and can 'assist' when I need a 2nd pair of hands!

Deb,

Now that's what I call one really awesome husband! My husband just gets out of my way and let's me do my thing. I think that's all I'll get from him. But wow, you're one lucky gal!

Hey....tell him great job!

How about some pics of his finished product???

My son, at age 6, loves soapmaking, though he only gets to participate in the MP process..not CP.

(BTW, time to update your Twitter page, missy!)

I'm so thrilled for you!! I may have to try and steal him since my husbands only interest is in using it. :D

So wonderful to have someone at home to share the passion with. No one here is even remotely interested....boo hoo for me.

I'm sooo jealous .... my husband does nothing but complain about the clutter, smells, etc. I'm happy for ya ... a set of extra hands is always nice to have !!

That's why I come to this forum, so I can talk about soapy things with like minded people. I think I bore DH stupid, but then again I tune out when he starts talking about motorbikes and engines...
You are very lucky Deda, and he couldn't have a better teacher. :p

That is so awesome!
My bf pretends he's interested, but really the only thing he can think of is "so how can we make money doing this?" LOL

So.. does that make you a "Couple of Lye-ers"??
