I hate rebatching SO much!!

No matter what combo of grated soap, oil, water, temp, EO I use - it always ends up a clotty mess. I hate it. Why do people bother??

haha...yes, I hate it too but I did rebatch some of my soap because I am too cheap to toss them. Each time I rebatch I tell myself that this was the last time...but I end up doing it again :roll:

Yes, the only reason I rebatch is because I would not want to waste the $$.

Unless I have a slightly lye heavy batch, where rebatching would be necessary, I usually chop my uglies into chunks to incorporate into another bar. Much easier than rebatching, and rather attractive.

I've only done it once because of air bubbles. What a waste. I ended up trashing it anyway.

I did some last night.

Ive done it on the stove in th past and it has taken ages and been real messy. Yesterday I thought bugger it i'm just going to use the microwave, and seriously it only took a few 1min bursts. I was so amazed.

Not sure if there is a reason for not using the microwave? will soon find out.

Anyway, it melted really easily, I then blended it and was left with a smooth, 'vasaline' type mixture. I poored it into my molds, roughed up the tops and when it set I cut it and it look almost like a regular bar.

I like to rebatch in the microwave. Just be sure to keep an eye on it since the soap melts so quidkly.

I gave up on rebatch. I don't like how aesthetically challenged the bars became.

I have always put my grated rebatch soap in a cooking bag and placed that in boiling water, removing it periodically to mush it around and have had mixed results with that method. And, it's messy.

Today, I tried something different that worked really well. I mixed up a new batch of soap in the crock pot and after I blended the lye into the oils I added my rebatch and blended that in before the cook. It turned out beautifully!

I have a few bars of irregular soaps that either didn't come out of the mold right or chipped and I just use them for home only. I am too scared to rebatch...sounds like alot of work. I have not experienced any lye heavy bars yet...thank goodness.

I've been doing exactly that for a little more than a year. I will never go back to the traditional rebatch methods.

Sometimes I also just shred my ugly soap into a regular batch of CP for a confetti look.

I don't mind rebatching at all. I save my soap scraps, grate them and rebatch in the crockpot. At the Vaseline stage I add about 1/2 cup instant nonfat dry milk to the soap and stir it in well. It is amazing how the milk smooths out the mixture.

i did my first rebatch and it was I think a failure! I did it in the crock pot and added way too much water and when I unmolded 2 days later, the soap is still soft and gummy! I did not like that process at all!!

I unfortunately had the pleasure of doing a rebatch yesterday, definitely wasn't a pretty site!

I did it in the crock pot, but even on high i couldn't get it fully 'liquid.. it was full of glops and clumps, gross.. it looks INTERESTING now, i like the 'confetti' look, but I wish i would have thought to get the stick blender in there!!

I have to say though, the tops are hideous.. it looks like the moon or something and feels very odd to the touch haha.. the inside though feels/looks like cp (sorta.. still ugly....)

Mine was all gloppy and gross, too! I thought I would put my mixer in there like for whipped soap, but I burned it out! and now the mixer is broken! I'm sad.

i've found a potato masher helps with the gloppiness / clumpiness. i HATE rebatching too, but...

Not a fan of rebatching either but i have found that the lather from rebatched soaps is amazing.

Ahhhh I busted mine too, saddest day ever. I feel like my stick blender is my best friend really. haha
