Today our computer crashed and I had NO net, as horrifying as it was I thought I would re batch some HP soap I had, however I put in too much water, (I used a double boiler by the way) it just kept running out of water while I was adding more soap into it, yes I know, I should have grated all the soap first and melted it at the same time but I was guessing my way through this (never re batched before).
The mixture is in the mold feeling quite soft, is there a way to save it? if I stuck it in the crock pot or oven would the water evaporateout of it?
admittedly it was fun to do although it came out looking rather repulsive looking, something like mushy peas lol.

you're ok-it's still soap. you will have to be a little patient and let the water evaporate. when soap gets firmer cut into bars and let dry some more.

try to place it near a floor vent or something so it gets some air circulation. this will help speed up the process.

heartsong is right.....the worst thing you're going to have out of this batch is a longer cure time and maybe some shrunken bars. You're in okay shape. :)

Thankyou both for your help, I turned the batch out to dry, it looks like it'll take about 2 years lol although it's keeping its form pretty good. I think I should name it "The Feral Fairy" lol.

Just a thought, what would happen if I stuck it in our fan forced oven?

You can rebatch it again and this time grate it up - put it in a large pot in the oven @ 200 F and just let it sit there for a couple of hours. It'll take some of the water out of it which will let you have a harder bar of soap sooner. Stir it every once in a while just to get it to melt at a somewhat consistant basis. Once it's all vaseliney (is that a word?) then let it sit for another 1/2 hour to get more fluid evaporated and then plop it into your log molds again.

Or you can just wait it to dry............

Cheers

Thanks Lindy, I had to have a giggle at your suggestion to grate as it isn't grateable it's more like mush lol. I will put one have of the batch in the oven and see how it goes, should I put a lid on the pot? ahhh nothing like a good challenge

No leave the lid off and just let it sit - sorry I wasn't thinking - of course it's mushy....
