Waited all week to have enough time and energy to soap. Measured out my oils and was having the devil of a time getting the stupid coconut oil in the stupid small-mouthed Soaper's Choice bottle liquified. Had everything but the CO melting in a double boiler as i melted a bit of CO, poured 1-2 oz at a time into the rest, etc. Then my grip on the stupid big ungainly bottle slipped and I upset the double boiler, spilling half of my oil mix all over the kitchen.

I could just cry

How does everyone else get the dumb CO out of those bottles?!? It's driving me crazy. And $10 of oils wasted.

I did that but it was taking so long :(. My husband feels bad for me b/c I'm so upset, so he's putting it in a big jar for me. He's been on me about my spending on soap stuff so I was really trying to budget and that was my alloted oil budget for the week :(

Oh NO, what a bummer! You know, I seen those bags you are talking about and it always raised an eyebrow as to the ease of removal. I personaly havent purchased them just because of the packaging. Sending you cyber oil and huggs

Oh, Maitri, I am so sorry this happened :-( I have had a hard time getting soap out of those bottles too! I have put them in the sink with hot water before I start pouring out my water and lye and other oils, then hope it is liquid enough by the time I am ready to use it. I just started using one of the tubs instead of the bottles, and while they have some disadvantages to them, they are easier then trying to get the oil out of those bottles!

I used to melt them in a sink of hot water too or put them in my husbands greenhouse till I was ready to soap but now I just use a razor blade and cut the top 1/4 of the bottle off. I do that for Palm and Palm Kernel oils from Soapers Choice. I buy my coconut in the 50lb buckets. I am sorry you had a misshap. I feel for you :-(

I melt it all at once and then pour them out into smaller tupperware type of bowls with lids... makes it easier to scoop out what you need and melt on the go. I'm so sorry this happened :(

I don't know about the coconut oil because I don't buy that kind, but I just lay the palm oil bottles flat (with room to circulate) in the microwave.

I don't buy in the small gallon containers anymore but when I did I would melt Once then pour into my log mould. Then when solid just pop it out and put in a plastic bag. I don't know why they put supplies in containers they can't come out of! I'm so sorry you had such problems and glad you have a partner that's willing to help.

When I get my hard oils in gallon jugs, I melt them in hot water in the sink then pour them into tubs for easy access. This last time I just bought the pails, much easier to use! I won't be going back to the gallon jugs anytime soon.

I cut the top off and than soften in the sink. Usually it takes just a few seconds to soften enough to slide right out into another container. The first time i got one i chipped it out of the tiny opening haha that took forever!

I buy my CO from WSP also. You get 8#, in a bucket, which comes out cheaper than getting it from Soaperschoice (for my location anyway). They do have a $30 minimum to qualify for 'free shipping' (is it really free shipping when the prices are jacked up to cover the shipping costs?). But I buy my Palm there also, so it's easy to reach the minimum. And it all comes in those handy buckets you can reuse to make your soap in.

TY everyone for the support :) I am feeling better today (and also going to look into getting my CO at WSP!)

Oh 8 lbs is about right, I get the 7-pound bottles at SC and they don't have free shipping. WSP is pretty dang awesome.

My husband said that my self-imposed "budget" doesn't apply to accidents so I can make another batch tonight :)

Yeah for DH being so understanding! I get my CO and PO in big tubs. I dig chunks put to melt in the microwave in a pourable bowl and then using a funnel pour some into a boilable bag from BB. It holds about 7# at a time and is microwaveable and reuseable. Good luck on your next batch of soap!

I'm so sorry about the CO. In addition to loosing it, I can only imagine the mess to clean up.
I used to get the CO in the microwavable bags. I took my eyes of of a bag in the microwave and ended up with a melted mess
that ruined my microwave. Expensive lesson! I now get my CO from WSP also. I love the tubs!
