I am making soap with Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Water, Lye and Essential oil. Once I have everything mixed together and have reached a pudding consistency, I'm adding the essential oil right at the end, then I do a final mix and then pour into molds. The result is nice soap but I can never smell the essential oil at all. I've tried various essential oils, various grades of essential oils from cheap to expensive, and various amounts from a little to a bunch - yet it makes no difference, I still cannot smell them at all once their put into the mixture. I figured I must be doing something wrong. Please help.

Hello and Welcome! What size batches are you making? What essential oils & How much? More information is needed to help you. Also, many EO's do not stick in CP for long. Especially citrus.

I'm making 36 bars. Have used essential oils from doterra and others. From a couple ounces to many ounces. I've tried Eucalyptus, Lavender, Chamomile, and others. Does it matter when the EO is added? If not EO, what do you recommend for getting the scent to stay?

Your still not giving needed information. Again, what size batch are you making? How much EO. I wouldn't waste my time using EO from D0Terra....you can buy same quality for a whole lot less money.

What soap calculator are you using to gage this?

All the above what Shunt told you. Without knowing your batch size we cannot tell you how much to use, but if you are using DoTerra I assume you are using tiny amounts. In my batches that are using 60 oz oils I use, on the average of 4 oz fragrance or EO. Some EO's are irritating such as clove and cinnamon, those I use much less of.
