"...I'll hang around now..."

Super glad to hear that! As far as avoiding gelling, I will offer a quick answer for now -- from what I recall some soapers freeze their soap for 24 hours. Some will freeze for 12 hours, then refrigerate for another 12-24. I don't refrigerate or freeze my soap, however, so I hope others with more experience will confirm.

Obsidian, I'm glad to hear you're staying on the forum! We all learn so much from each other here. If you become even half as obsessed as some of us are with soaping, you'll love having a place to go to ramble about your own soaping adventures, cause trust me, this will be your family in no time:

I can't wait to hear about your first batch and see the pictures :)

Haha! That picture is my husband sometimes!

Do realize though that if you are preventing gel that most often it does take a little more patient waiting to get it unmolded and cut. I always have to add an extra day or even 2. Preventing gel just is slowing down the process of saponification. It still goes through the same process......just slower. I have a hard time when preventing gel. I tend to be impatient.

I was worried that the goat milk might get too hot and turn weird colors but I may remove it and set it down in the basement where its cool but not too cold. Its been a few hours since I poured and I removed the single bar mold to see how it was doing, after a few minutes it thawed out and its as soft as when I poured.
Hope I didn't do anything wrong.
