I've been making some Tea Tree Oil bath soaps (made with extra virgin olive oil) and am experimenting on a Tea Tree Oil Shampoo and have been using both lately. Since Tea Tree Oil is good for the skin, I'm thinking about specializing in this area as my signature pieces.

I was also thinking about having some house parties to may be start selling these products (along with some other products that I have made). How can I get people excited about hosting and/or coming to a house party?

Anyone with house party experience? and is this a good way to start a new business?

I don't know much about tea tree oil, but as for having a house party to show off and sell your stuff, I think it is a great idea!

Are you on facebook by any chance? I am ALWAYS getting event invites on there to things like tupperware parties, etc. and it would be a good way to get info about your party out to a large bunch of people! :)

ok , i've only done one so far, but it turned out great. (family and friends are the key)
my sister threw me and openhouse soap party. we did drawing for free bars(she's a nail tech, so she gave away a free pedicure).

i think food, women, and something made by your own hands that pampers is enticing(did i spell that right) enough.

i really wasn't prepared to say anything formal, but i did end up standing up and saying a little something, and passing each soap around with a little explanation of it. my lotion bars are great, because they got to actually try it.

hope this helps

I think the parties are a great idea and I have one booked for the end of the month with a friend.

To get my hostess excited they get a hostess gift - this one will include a bath scrunchie, soap & Bath Bombs. To get the guests interested in coming we're going to make a simple bath salts recipe that they can all take home. I will of course have my soaps and stuff there for sampling and selling. I will also take along a "Dove" bar so people can wash one arm with Dove and then the other with my soap. This will allow people to experience the difference for themselves.

I personally have always pretty much avoided these types of parties so I had to figure out what I didn't like, besides the hard sales pitch, and it was that we all just sat there, and touched stuff and listened to someone talk. So I devised a party plan that lets people do, make something they can take home and also experience the product instead of just "oh that's pretty".

That's my take anyways and I hope it works.

Cheers
Lindy

i love the dove bar compare. what a great idea.

ya, i didn't do a lot of talking, and i put bars and draining dish soaps by every sink. one guest asked why do my hands feel so soft after returning from the bathroom and that gave me a chance to explain about the chemicals in commercial bars and the glycerin etc....

I have fallen in love with the whole soap making process so i decided to have my own parties (like the tupperware ones) but with a different twist..
just to spread the word first i am going to have people over and the whole idea of my parties are to make some mp soap Together! .. then they can understand the whole process and i know they may want to just continue making their own so then i thought i would just package up my own little simple kits with recipes for them to buy .. anyway i am not in this to make millions to start i just thought it would be a nice way to spend time together and then i can hostess more parties for their own friends and family etc and i also make candles (soy) so i will have nice little gifts for free with my name and info on card attached ( i was given all the candle making supplies)
For me my whole concept is to spread the word about harsh chemicals and about paying attention to reading labels. i have gathered all of my old "product junky"(for lack of a better term) stuff and will urge them to read labels and i am printing out sheet on all of the chemicals and their long term use effects etc.. So after quick presentation of the soap making process ( mp very nice and simple) they wil all have supplies all measure out for them already on the little tv trays set up and then the fun begins..
oh yeah i will also take pictures at the end to add to my collage of my little gatherings to add a more personal touch..
So thats my idea to at least spread the word and get my ideas out there of what i am trying to do ( i have networked for 2 yrs now) and all of my friends love to make cards so we can make our own labels for the soap they can bring their own card making supplies if they want.. just need to get some waxy paper to wrap them in first but like the idea of the cigar style label too.. any ideas i would greatly appreciate!!! I need to put together simple easy kits easy to make and have lip balm, hand salve and now need other ideas ,it all has to be nice and easy and also ones for kids with mp soap i thought would be fun..
:)

Why waste the money buying the "Dove" soap, I'd do the same comparance test but with some really cheap garbage soap that you get 5 for $1.00 in the supermarket, let 'em really feel the difference!!
