Perhaps this thread will end with a positive effect. Basic questions have been asked so many times it would not be difficult to come up with a thorough FAQ section that would really help newly interested people who would very likely become enthusiastic soapiers (is that a word?)and enthusiastic contributing members of the forum leading to growth of the forum leading to... You know where this goes.
This happens on many forums where excited new people seek knowledge from those who have already travelled the path. Perhaps some suffer travel fatigue. Cyber road rage?

i do appreciate people noting that the search function is not all that helpful. i'd noticed this too and thought i was just being an idiot (as is often the case . mods, is this something we can improve????
