Good morning, soapy friends (and all other craftspeople)!
Please call me phantasy. I picked the name because frankly I was feeling uninspired. But I really enjoy fantastical things, and swords / dragons / fairies / far off lands / magic / adventure are a huge source of inspiration for me.
Actually, I didn't start off with an interest in soap. I started with candles, because I'm easily overwhelmed by strong smells, but I still wanted to enjoy them. So I decided to make them myself. Also, I can completely customize the fragrances to be exactly to my liking. I'm particular! I mean, I'm discerning.
Candles are very fun to make, but after being gifted a really lovely bar of soap from a local vendor, I thought, hey, I could do this myself, and my skin wouldn't have to suffer so much! We have hard water and a very dry home, so about 4 months of the year are pretty uncomfortable. Again, sensory issues! Also, the chemistry part is fun!
I love to learn and try new things. I'm 34, and I have ADHD which I assume contributes to my new hobbies every few weeks. Despite my desire to instantly pry a freshly poured loaf of soap out of its mold, I am trying to practice patience.
I also aim way too high for my own good, but I don't know how to do it any other way.
I look forward to sharing my progress on this adventure, failures and all. Thank you to everyone on the forums - wow, there is such good information here.
Cheers!
