After a long hiatus, I'm finally able to get back to soap making. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure I added way too much lye. The batteries were out on my scale so I guessed. Not a good idea. This is what it looks like 24 hours after pouring into a mold.

Edited to add that I screwed up on the measurements on everything. I did everything by volume not weight.

Edited to add:
I forgot to save the recipe I used but here is fairly close to what was done.

2lb recipe - done by volume not weight

4oz lye
12oz water
13oz Crisco - new (yes I used cheap oils for this batch since it has been so long since I did a batch. If b I really can't fix it I won't be too upset.)
9oz vegetable oil
5oz coconut
3oz olive
2oz sesame oil

Yikes, yes, that needs rebatching. Once you get it cooked down, you'll have to add oil until the soap stops zapping then I would add in a bit more for SF. Alternatively, you can grind it up for laundry soap.

That was exactly my reaction. I just kept thinking about it, and the idea of grating it up for rebatch just got to be worse and worse an idea. I hate telling anyone to toss a batch though.

Yeah, I'll probably just pitch it. I didn't use any expensive oils so it didn't cost too much in ingredients. Already did a different batch that looks a me it is going to turn out perfect.
