Help colouring cp goat milk soap

Hello. I'm having problem with colouring goat milk soap. Usually I don't add any colour to my goat milk soap, but wanted to try it this time. I used a mica powder from Amazon that was green, my soap was green apple fragrance. The problem was that instead of green I got a light red colour. It still works as I will label the soap apple instead of green apple. My question is why did it change to a different colour and how to avoid it in goat milk soaps? I would like to try more colouring with future bars.

It likely was made for MP soap and is not high PH stable. That’s why it’s important to purchase from reputable companies that list if a colorant is CP/HP stable.

Thank you for the reply. I borrowed the sample from my son in law. He makes a cp soap and said he hasn't had any problem and that the colouring comes out as it should be. I was wondering if it was caused from the goats milk or some failure in the process.

I use neon colors when I color my CP goat milk powder. Here's a picture of my goat & butter milk soap.

Even CP stable greens are notorious for morphing. I have one that goes baby diarrhea brown before morphing back to green. I have another that looks like olive green and ends up a lovely spruce green. It may go green in time, but if it was not CP stable then you are most likely out of luck.

Doubtful it is the GM. Though I don't add colorants to my GMS anymore, I did in the beginning and didn't have any issues. If your SIL says he didn't have any problems, you might want to compare oils/butters. You also might want to see if it doesn't morph back.

It can also be because of the color of your oils. For example, extra virgin olive oil has a green tint and will mess with your colors.
