Have you ever made arnica balm using premade arnica oil . It is in almond oil , I am guessing it would be the same as the arnica oil you infuse yourself at .5oz .I just wanted to see if anyone else had used it ?

never made it but my mom used it all the time when me and my brothers were growing up. i kinda want to make some now. lol

I have but I've always infused my own, which I used at 20%. With the arnica oil I'd keep it quite low - 0.5% sounds reasonable off the top of my head - I wouldn't go any higher without some sound information (cuz mine is just a guess) about the concentration in your oil. Is it an extract like an EO? Or is it infused?

Remember, not for use on broken skin! Not only can it interfere with clotting, but it can do some damage if it's absorbed. It's toxic - even deadly - if much taken internally, and it is absorbed through mucous membranes.

But on intact skin it's AMAZING. I have total relief from my carpel tunnel syndrom, and my friend uses it for his tennis elbow. Wow.

Thanks carebear , that is why I want to make it , I have pinched nerves in my neck and it seems to be affecting my my muscles in that area too . I have been reading all the kudos it gets .
There is not much info , it says arnica in almond oil . I think I will email the co. and ask some questions , I don't want to guess and mess it up.kwim

it is amazing stuff. I don't believe any of this crunchy stuff - but heck, it works!

I'm curious if they've just diluted an EO, or infused the herb in the oil.

Eh? Okay, I'm confused.
How much arnica flowers do you put in how much oil to infuse? Do you do it by weight at 20%?

I am planning on trying to make a balm/salve/bar whatever with this too. I have some deo tubes and am just trying to get the lotion bar to the consistency that I like.

Carebear, can you point me to more info on arnica infusions, specifically for carpal tunnel?...my hubby's is so bad he needs surgery, but won't take the time off work. It's bad. Maybe this would help?
TIA!~

I am still waiting for an answer from the supply co. I couldn't find the dried arnica here , to infuse my own , so went with the already infused.

lets *SEE* how it turns out =)

I need to find some arnica herbs. Maybe I can get my MIL to grow some for me.. hehe She likes to garden. But I don't know how hard it is to grow....

I've read that it's a 1:5 ratio of arnica flowers to oil. I know some folks use 2 oz arnica flowers to 20 oz of oil for the proper infusion, although it's actually difficult to do that, because the flowers really fill up the jar.

Also, you should never use more than 15% in any balm. At least that's what I've read in my research.
