Hello there,
I looked a bit at this soap making forum and it looks great. We have for several years a handicraft enterprise helping Tibetan nomads get some additional income. Last year we have been trained by a friend how to make hand made YAK MILK soap, and we believe that this can become a great product to be added unto the crafts we already have. In our case we have started making Yak Milk Soap. We are in a steep learning curve, so we hope to benefit from this great knowledge base.

Klaas from the Netherlands now in China/Tibet

Hi Klaas,

Welcome! I had to look up Yak milk since I didn't know anything about it. It was interesting to find out that it has a higher fat content than goat milk. It sounds like it will make some lovely soap. I hope it's very successful for you. :D

Yak Milk

Thanks for the welcome(s),

Yes, Yak Mlik has a high fat content. Here is some info for those that are not familiar with the Yak:

What is their milk like? Yak milk is NOT pink. It is a rich creamy color with a high fat content of 5-7 percent. Being so high in fat, it is usually processed into butter, cheese, or yogurt.
Yak milk is superior to other milk. It has a higher fat content and is rich in protein, vitamin A and calcium.

Thanks carebear,

Do you have a link of a video?

We are already looking whether we can pack the soap in some felt.
