I made my first goatmilk soap last week & I can't figure out what I did wrong. It's been 4 days now and it's still not hard enough to cut. I did this cp half water/half goat milk. I did full water, just in case I had problems. I used ng's baby bee buttermilk fo. All I can think of maybe cuz I used full water or the humidity. Hope someone can help :)

Here's my recipe:

olive 16oz
coconut 8oz
palm 8oz
1tsp salt & 2 T sugar before adding lye
6 oz of water
6oz of goatmilk

i wish i could help, i made hp gm and it took a long time to harden, which is weird cause its fully cooked? I think you could lessen water amt next time?

i've got the same problem-i make rtcp with gm & honey-for the 1st time i used my hdpe 5# log molds instead of my 18 bar wooden mold.

this was the 1st time that i didn't let it warm up at all. in my wood mold i let it get warm to touch, but not hot. (the reason being, using 50% condensed milk kinda stinks for a week or so then goes away.)

this is a recipe that has never failed on me, and after almost 3 weeks the inside is still kinda soft and gooey (not runny) but is definitely a pain to cut.

i used 2: water/lye (33%).

i've been scratching my head all week-the only conclusion i can draw off of this is that you've got to allow at least partial gel for it to firm up.

i'm going to try it again going for full gel in the log mold and see if this clears up the problem.

I think I would not have used more than a total of 8 fluid oz liquid in this recipe. I wonder if your recipe was calling for fluid ounces of goat's milk, or weighted ounces? I am really new to this, but I think if it didn't harden for me soon, I would melt her down and evaporate some of that water out? If all else fails.

Goatmilk based soap is my favorite. I normally go for 33% water with 5% lye discounted for CP soaps. I never had a problem.

same here, but i always allowed it to gel-except for these last 2 logs. i think that is where my problem is.
