ok, here is my first question for everyone. I usually use a wooden log mold for my soap. I have a great plastic Milky Way type mold for goat milk soap. I would love to use it, but I usually can't get my soaps to gel in the plastic molds, I prefer them to gel. Has anyone ever used a heating pad with the plastic molds to get them to gel? Does this hurt the mold at all?? Thanks in advance for all help! I really appreciate it, I don't want to ruin my mold.[/img]

Someone else asked about this before. I think the title was partial gelling or something.

Someone said you could use a heating pad and another used ceramic tiles heated in the oven.

I can't remember the particulars but it should be still showing on the front page of this section.

adirondacksoaper,
Have you tried pre-heating your oven, putting the mold in wrapped in towels and turning the oven off?

Yes, that was me that uses the ceramic tiles to force gel in plastic moulds!
I put the tiles in the oven, make sure they are ceramic, or a pizza terracotta stone, let them heat up, then when you are ready to pour your soap, put the stone in a box, with a towel or something over it, just so it's not too hot, then put your mould over the top. With a goat milk soap I don't think you would have to insulate on the top though, and generally plastic moulds are smaller in size to a log mould, so gel won't take that long. Be sure to keep an eye on it, and let me know how you go!

Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions! I will let you know how it comes out. I don't have any ceramic tiles or a pizza stone, but I do have a small heating pad. I might have to try that one. I will use one of my coolers and turn it into my gelling box!! Thanks again!!! I can't wait to try this now!!!
