Does the beer or banana leave any residual scent in the soap or is it purely a texture thing?

My first batch of beer soap was really successful. It has a slight yeasty smell. I also used clove and orang eo....but not enough because it smells like a yeasty pastry of sorts. Produces a bunch of creamy bubbles.

So I am excited to throw in a banana this time to see how the color changes and if any of the banana scent holds. My guess is no.

It was amazing! Smelled just like Cherry Cheesecake....

I've added spent grain to a beer soap for a gardeners soap and it flew off the shelves. Going to make it again right away plus I have a gardeners shop interested in them.

Ok....so I will unmold and cut tomorrow with pix! I ended up blending the banana with the beer, then freezing and using directly with lye. Brought to a light trace. Then I hot processed it in my soaping crock. It turned a beautiful caramel color! Added honey almond FO (my first fo in soap since M&P days!), and ground oatmeal! No lye volcanos or burning! Can't wait to give it a shot!

Ok, the first photo is my soap at trace before cooking in the crock pot. It darkened up a bit, but then when I added the FO, it got really dark! (the vanilla, I'm sure did it in.) The last picture is comparing my first beer soap which was CP'ed and fragranced with EO's.

I just bought a few themed beers to soap with too. Must be beer soap season! My local Kroger grocery store had Shock Top brand beers on sale for $1 each. I got lemon shandy, honey crisp apple wheat & end of the world midnight wheat. I used the midnight wheat this weekend with blackened amethyst FO from NG. The plan was to make a black & purple soap but it came out gray & fuschia with a severe case of soda ash!
