I've taken to reading aloud to my now 2 year-old daughter (dd3) before naps and at bedtime. The amusing part is that when I read her favorite story, Curious George she stays awake, but when I break out whatever soapmaking book I happen to be reading, she conks out within a few pages or so. I don't think it's because it's boring, though the recipe parts can be repetitive and a bit monotonous, I think it's because of the tone of my voice while reading those... less inflection because there are no 'voices'. (though dd1 doesn't necessarily agree... cheeky little thing she is  ) It is funny though.
Actually, I'm wondering what to read to her after I finish all the soap books. I have a bunch of them, but have already gone through 4 with her. Guess I'll have to find more of those or something else similar.
