I've taken to reading aloud to my now 2 year-old daughter (dd3) before naps and at bedtime. The amusing part is that when I read her favorite story, Curious George she stays awake, but when I break out whatever soapmaking book I happen to be reading, she conks out within a few pages or so. I don't think it's because it's boring, though the recipe parts can be repetitive and a bit monotonous, I think it's because of the tone of my voice while reading those... less inflection because there are no 'voices'. (though dd1 doesn't necessarily agree... cheeky little thing she is :roll: ) It is funny though.

Actually, I'm wondering what to read to her after I finish all the soap books. I have a bunch of them, but have already gone through 4 with her. Guess I'll have to find more of those or something else similar.

Oh no, just print out the sap lists and numbers on soapcalc and start reading those to her.

Reading soap recipes to a little sleepy girl... that's brainwashing. I bet she'll be making soap in a couple of years :wink:
Maybe you could start with the encycopedia, or cooking books? Learning french/hebrew/dutch?
