I've taken to reading aloud to my now 2 year-old daughter (dd3) before naps and at bedtime. The amusing part is that when I read her favorite story, Curious George she stays awake, but when I break out whatever soapmaking book I happen to be reading, she conks out within a few pages or so. I don't think it's because it's boring, though the recipe parts can be repetitive and a bit monotonous, I think it's because of the tone of my voice while reading those... less inflection because there are no 'voices'. (though dd1 doesn't necessarily agree... cheeky little thing she is  ) It is funny though.

Actually, I'm wondering what to read to her after I finish all the soap books. I have a bunch of them, but have already gone through 4 with her. Guess I'll have to find more of those or something else similar. :D

ROFL that is hilarious . You will have to find something new for sure , they know when it's a "repeat " .

LOL, that's cute. Just start all over, she won't know since she missed so much falling asleep:) And by the time you read through them again you should be an Expert soap maker to guide the rest of u

 Reading soap recipes to a little sleepy girl... that's brainwashing. I bet she'll be making soap in a couple of years
Maybe you could start with the encycopedia, or cooking books? Learning french/hebrew/dutch? :p
