Ok, so maybe its the second batch...my first batch was a huge accident that started as CP, seized on me so I decided to cook it and it volcanoed out of pot. I managed to make it work but it put me off of HP until recently. I met another soaper in town (YAY!) and she does hp...gotta say her lovely soaps gave me a nudge to try HP again. So I decided today was the day, except I didn't have a crockpot and I wasn't doing double boiler. That's right, call me crazy  I used my normal soaping pot on low heat straight on the stove burner. Keep a constant eye on it, took between 30-40 minutes in all from start to finish and I actually like it. I like that I can superfat it with the more expensive oils as well as pricier essential oils and retain the benefits of both. I love that its "ready to use" out of the pot, no zap, minimum cure time basically for liquids to evaporate. Of course there are no pretty swirls or layers like my CP, but the trade off is worth it, and really my soaps are simple in design anyway. So that's it, just happy about learning a new way to soap

Congratulations on the second batch! Although, the first batch sounded like it made for an exciting time. I think it's great that you've found another soaper in your town. I wish I had someone to sit down and talk with about soap. (I need to learn to tie knots better. They keep coming loose and I walk back into the kitchen to find no one's there.)

It's not crazy to use a pot on the stove. I've posted a link to a lady's HP on the stove tutorial several times. It's not something I want to do because I'd be worried about burning the batch.

I love my crockpot.

Sounds like you had a good time making that great soap..Congrats.

"Glad that you got over the bad experience and did it again!"

I have a stubborn streak a mile wide, no way I was going to let one bad experience keep me from trying at least a dozen more times

I woke up and seriously thought about making another HP batch! I have however enough soap to make a small igloo for my toddler to play in, and I don't even sell. Trying to reign the urge to soap though since we will be moving this May from GA to WA and I will have a box of two of soap to pack as it is.

yay! congrats to your success! hp can be godsend at times. especially when receiving sudden orders with only a week notice :D

Yes seven, I'm realizing that short notice orders and HP go hand in hand.

I did end up doing HP yesterday, did a castile soap. I've never done a 100% true castile so I decided to give it a shot. I added a touch of carrot and rosewood essential oils for a hint of smell, and both are good for dry sensitive skin which most of my family suffers from. Cant wait to try it out!
