@ScentimentallyYours I was living in NJ at the time of the Mt St Helens eruption and in grade school. I remember the ash haze reaching us and our teachers rolled the TVs into class so we could watch the news and then we went outside to see it 😳 it kinda freaked me out as a kid because I remember how the temperature changed and we talked about it in science class also and compared it to the global catastrophies that caused the ice ages. Talk about a life lesson!

At the time I worked at the local TV station, and Missoula also experienced weather changes. I called up the Today Show weatherman at the time, Willard Scott, and asked if it was possible that weather changes were due to the eruption of Mount Saint Helens. He said he checked with the meteorologists and they did not think it could’ve had that large an impact on our weather. But who knows? I’m not sure they had enough scientific background at the time to make the determination. Or perhaps I was more enchanted by the drama of it all?

I have my own story of that day. It was absolutely incredible! And your soap encaptures it beautifully.
Would someone be willing to open a thread in the general chat as a place to put down these Mt. St. Helen's stories? I am fascinated by eye- witness accounts, and would love to hear ALL the stories! It could be a history and science lesson for the whole family! I was less than a year old when it happened, so I don't remember anything about it.

You read my mind @ackosel!!!

I would love to say I love😍 everybody's soaps very nice! I would also like to say I asked my son to go work on his motor bike to get his hands dirty so he could try the mechanic soap I just made, so he did. He came in after his hands got really dirty and tried it. It works wonders his hands are so clean now I can't believe it works, my son loves it and my Dad wants to bring a couple of bars to the hospital for their mechanic room where he works once they are done curing. So this was a excited soap challenge for me.

Well, I need to withdraw. It has been a really sucky February. I had to put one of my dogs down, my goat kidded, and the babies didn’t survive. On top of that, we were out of power for a week last week. I finally get everything sorted out and back in my soap shed today. I’m making the soap today, but it won’t be able to be cut until after the deadline. I’m so sorry!!!!
