I got heart shaped silicone molds from Target in the bargain section a year or two ago. 6 cavities per mold, they were 2 bucks apiece. Super easy to unmold.

I don't know what grade you teach, I keep trying to think of something that could be an affordable classroom gift. Even something other teachers could order from you in advance to give their class as a gift. So far all I have come up with is lipbalm.

I will admit to not being too much of an expert on sugar scrubs. I was thinking I would package them in single-use packets (probably using trading card size zip bags). I was thinking as long as no water is introduced to a large package during use they would not need a preservative. Any thoughts?

Interesting idea about the classroom gifts. Wonder what could be done that would not be too labor intensive...

If they are single use then you can avoid preservatives IMO.

How about some bath teas? Or bath salts? Wonder if you could do bubble bath bars? Soap queen has a video how to, they look pretty easy. I just remember thinking they would be too pricey to make for my local market.

There are some great Valentine's Day ideas in the new issue of Handmade e-Magazine (WSP's online magazine) at http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/PDFS/Handmade/WSP-Handmade-Latest.pdf. I absolutely love the Bed of Roses soap on page 12 & 13 (also at http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/RecipeDetail.aspx?RecipeID=429). The recipe is supposed to be for a M&P soap loaf, but I don't see why you couldn't modify it by using your own cold process recipe instead of M&P base - it would just take a bit more time in between the various steps.

In keeping with my philosophy of simplicity, I decided to get the heart shaped imbed mold. I have rose fragrance and decided to try a different chocolate fo. Ordered some hot pink color too. (I have red and lavender.)

jcatbloom, I thought about bath tea and salts but it seems no one I know takes a tubbie. All are shower people. Since this is mostly for the lounge at school, I'll save the salts and teas for shows. However, I have a lotion bar recipe I love and ordered a mold for making them, somethiing to set them apart from the soaps. Trying my best to not hear, "This won't suds up for me!" (Will also have "warning" in LARGE letters. )

I always like to treat the office staff at school to something on Valentine's Day. They are so helpful all year long! They make my job so much easier! I was thinking of a small box of bon bon soaps. I have never used FO's before and was wondering what chocolate fo you use.

I have not used this one yet. I just ordered Dark Rich Chocolate from BB. It is my first "real" chocolate fo. The nearest I've come before is Chocolate Expresso.
