Oregon Trails has a really nice pumpkin fragrance called "Ol South Pumpkin Pie." Make it with canned pumpkin and people will buy it. They'll buy it when it's not fall too.

I have that and nope, still can't sell it here. I also have a Pumpkin Brulee which I really like the smell of but again won't sell. I still have over half of both batches made almost 2 years ago. They are all going into my misfits bin at my next show. I've found my customers don't like foodie scents. They aren't really fond of mint scents (Rosemary Mint/Eucalyptus Mint) either. They sell but not super well.

It's funny how some things will sell in one area but not others.

Indeed - or even varying from year to year. Two years ago I had to make 12lbs of pumpkin scented soap just to keep up with the demand. Last year I started with 6lbs (and thank goodness I only did that much!) and I still have 3 bars left that I can't get rid of even in my bargain bin.

It's August and I haven't even thought about doing any type of "fall" or "christmas" scents. Right now I'm leaning towards not doing anything seasonal and just doing regular scents that sell well. Although I might make an exception for CC's Sparkling Snowflake because that sells well regardless of the season. There's my suggestion, lol.

-Sugared Spruce from WSP
-Santa's Pipe from SweetCake's
-Bayberry from Peak's
Winter Wonderland from Peaks
-Cedar & Saffron from Brambleberry (it's not advertised as being a Christmas scent, but it reminds me of what my Dad's house always smelled like during Christmas)

I don't sell, by the way....these are just the faves amongst my family and myself.

IrishLass :)

Yeah, I once made a batch of peppermint soap because people kept asking me for it. When it was cured and wrapped I couldn't even give it away!

Cranberry chutney from brambleberry, its a great spiced fruit scent without being overly cinnamon and cloves. You smell the juicy, tart fruit first.

Spiced pumpkin 776 from WSP. This is straight up pumpkin pie. Sweet, pumpkiny, spicy and buttery. Discolors fairly dark

Pumpkin & Cardamom 531 from WSP. I can't really smell pumpkin but its nice because there is no cinnamon or cloves. Its a light sweet creamy scent. Really reminds me of spiced chia. Unfortunately is a light scent and the max amount is around
1/2 oz PPO. Hopefully is doesn't fade too much. Would be great in lotions

I'm not making any seasonal scents because they end up in the "oops"(misfits) bucket too much. However, I may do a limited run in the spring to clear out some florals I have. I am thinking of doing a "featured scent" of the month, then I can just highlight something that could be considered "seasonal". That said, Pumpkin Cupcake from Fragrance Buddy is awesome! Made a batch on request for a friend I like it! Watch the usage rate, it's 4%, but its plenty strong!

Not sure if it's helpful, but my mom always makes a blend of orange, pine and clove EO's to diffuse around the house during x-mas.

I love Pumpkin but can’t give it away.
The only pumpkin I've ever been able to sell is Pumpkin Pie Spice from NG, but only in container candles and nothing else. I've tried several pumpkins and gave up many years ago. I think Starbucks and their pumpkin spice ruined pumpkin for a lot of people around here. (which, let's face it, that drink is the worst! LOL)

Hard finding a good Orange that sticks :( I like an Orange, clove, cinnamon, apple blend but don't like most of the FO's already mixed.
I'm not sure yet, but maybe mixing citrus EO's to (melted) beeswax before adding to the soap batter might help retain the scent. About 5 months ago I made 2 CP soaps in the same week, with the same EO combo (20% lemon, 70% lavandin, 10% patchouli) but a different recipe. In the first soap (100% CO) I just added the EO's at trace and in the second (92% OO, 5% castor, 3% beeswax) I mixed the EO's with melted beeswax and added at trace. This was a tricky process, and I thought it had failed. The beeswax had to be pretty hot to melt and I was afraid some or most of the scent had disappeared because of the heat. Adding the beeswax also speeds up (false?) trace, so beware of that if you want to try.. I'm at my parent's place and at the moment my mom's using both bars side by side, so it's easy to compare. The first bar smelled faintly of lavander, as expected, but the bar with EO's added in beeswax smelled pretty clearly of lemon, even though lemon is only 20% of the EO blend (I haven't noticed this earlier when testing the bars at home a while back, so I was really surprised to smell the lemon so clearly) There are no lemon-scented things close to the soap, so it can't have been contamination. Maybe, just maybe mixing citrus EO's to beeswax before adding it to the soap might help retain the scent (of course I don't know how it will be after 1 year, but I might try some more experiments with it).
Orange EO for me has been fading a little less quickly in a bar where I added orange peel for color, but that's probably just because there's a bunch of extra orange oils in the peel, bringing the total amount up.
Not sure if you're interested, but Anne L Watson has a nice webpage on citrus soap and also briefly discusses fading. She prefers using lemongrass EO to stabilize citrus EO's in soap. I've heard of others preferring litsea, but haven't had a chance to try myself.

By the way, orange, clove, cinnamon and apple sounds like an amazing combination!

Yep same here. I did have a girl ask for my pumpkin soap recently and fortunately it still smells like pumpkin. The soap is 2 yrs old in Sept. I sent them to her for the price of shipping since she had asked me twice at a once a month market I do and kept forgetting to take the soap.

Soapsupplies.net has a lovely Pumpkin that smells like pumpkin pie and discolors to a nice pumpkin color.

Speaking of fragrances for the Holidays has anyone received a sample of Mistletoe Kisses from Camden Grey? It smell just like red hots. I like it but hubby says it will not sell. Unfortunately he is usually right. As I have mentioned before Holiday Fragrances usually do not sell well for me, but I am usually silly enough to try one or two every year. Silly me...
