This is my 8th batch of CP. I made 3 batches of HP before that. I’ve been experimenting with a lot of combos of oils, essential oils, and other add ins. Mostly, I’ve been learning to make soap since the shut down from CV-19, and I’ve been using what I had on hand. This is my second swirl, and my first time using mica, and using sugar. It was also supposed to be my first time using sodium lactate, but I completely forgot it. I also followed someone’s advise on here and used more sugar than recommended in the calculator. It took me longer than expected to mix the mica into the batter I’d separated for it, and it started to solidify! So, my swirl was a desperate plopping of blobs instead. I was sure it would be a complete wasted disaster!! It was soft and smeary a little when I cut it. But, it smells GREAT and it looks pretty. So, I learned a LOT, and I like it.
Tallow, sunflower, castor oils with tea tree and ylang ylang essential oils.

They look good! We've all had the plop and drop. Congratulations! If you mix your mica with a bit of oil from your recipe and then add it to your separated batter you can generally stir it in pretty well. The key is getting your soap to emulsion or very very light trace. You'll get it worked out I'm sure.

After plopping your blobs, you can use a chopstick to make a swirl.

I did, or at least I tried. Said blobs were too stiff already. I was worried they’d have huge air pockets if I kept at it.

I did take the soap too far past emulsion to do the heavy mixing it took to incorporate the mica. I had mixed the mica with rubbing alcohol. Is it better to use some of the oil?

The fragrance combo is so good and was such a surprise! I was just using up stuff I had on hand, but I might use that combo again!

Alcohol was your problem. It will make it seize. Mix with oil or glycerin, some can be mixed with a bit of water or added directly to the batch.
