Good morning failure. Making some confetti soap for this month’s challenge. The chunks were too hard and wouldn’t cut on the cutter. I used an older soap that I had forgot to put the lard in. Guess you can’t fix stupid! I didn’t really like the color contrast anyway!

Awww bummer! I like your colors - great contrast.

Two things that can help when using older soap for confetti in a new soap:

1. Soak it overnight in distilled water to soften it, then
2. chop it into smaller pieces that won't be as prone to breakage when cutting.

I didn’t think of that. I didn’t have trouble with a different one, but those bars were extremely hard because I forgot the lard when I made it. I should have shredded it instead. Not sure what color I would get on a rebatch.., or if the hard chunks would keep form, but soften. Looks like a mad scientist day!

Ok, decided to melt it down. The “mosaic” pieces did not melt so maybe they will stay in tact. Tried to sprinkle some gold mica on top. I liken it to drywall mud, you should have stopped at the last pass. But no, you had to do one more pass!

I decided to cut it much earlier than I usually do. Good thing, I barely made it through. The chunks remained whole. Here’s the result. Frankly, I’m not sure what to think!

At the end of the day, it's still soap and it will get you clean. I kind of like it.

Thanks @dmcgee5034 it reminds me of tumbled rocks. I’m happy I could save it, scented with essential oils and that ain’t cheap!!

Thank you... I was going to say abalone but it wasn't quite that. Couldn't come up with labradorite last night but that's it!

@Humblegoat , way too bad your first confetti soap broke up. I loved the colors- like a beautiful yellow quartz with shades of yellow and orange with little chunks of black. I thought it was stunning! But , good news is you salvaged it and did not waste your EO’s! I wonder if for the future you could have put the broken soap chunks in an a little sack - made from an exfoliating cloth and used the soap bits like that. It was such nice soap!!

@Humblegoat, I think your soap looks beautiful, love the colors! Just wondering though...if you forgot to put the lard in wont it be lye heavy? Anyone know?
Still, I would enter it in the challenge because you worked hard on it and it is very pretty.
