Hello Everyone,

A year ago I made soap and gave it out for Christmas gifts. Last week I was at my sister's house and saw it sitting in her bathroom. She said it was "too cute" to use, but I talked her into finally using it. Now, it has no more scent left.

That made me wonder if I used enough to begin with, or if it just automatically loses scent over time.

How much EO do you use per pound? Are there certain EOs that lose it quicker? I don't use FO because I try to make mine all natural, but is that why it loses its scent?

Thanks! :p

.5- .7ish ppo depends on the strength of the eo. citrus eo fade rather quickly unless you anchor them with a bit of patchouli or some litsea cubia

Ummmm, thank you, but could you explain that in layman terms. My simple mind doesn't know what .5-.7ish ppo means....

Thanks!

That would be 0.5 to 0.7 ounces EO per pound of oils in your soap formula.

As Barb said, some EOs are stronger/longer lasting than others. Spices (cinnamon, clove) tend to be pretty strong and last forever. Citrus, especially lemon (in my experience) fade really quickly and require a much higher volume to make any kind of lasting scent.
