I'm having a very hard time choosing an emulsifying wax for my recipes. I just don't know where to start. I see good things about them all and a few with some not so good things. Like polywax can be a bit skiddish. No idea if that's true or not. I'd appreciate any info on your favorite e wax and why! Tysm.

There are many emulsifiers. Emulsifying wax (e-wax) is just one kind of emulsifier. So I'm a bit confused -- are you using "emulsifying wax" when you really mean "emulsifier"?

I use two emulsifiers -- e-wax (the generic version of Polawax) and conditioning emulsifier (the generic version of BTMS). These are both "all in one emulsifiers" which makes them easy to use for home crafters. There are several other "all in one" emulsifiers sold to crafters that people recommend. I've never tried these, but would like to.

Both of the emulsifiers I use work fine for me. I choose one over the other depending on the skin feel I want the lotion to have. E-wax gives a lotion more of a glidy whipped-cream skin feel. Conditioning emulsifier creates a lotion with more of a dry, powdery skin feel. Both are nice ... just different.

Glyceryl Stearate SE is one of my favorite emulsifiers which can be found here. Glyceryl Stearate GMS Self Emulsifying (SE) 1 Lb. This one will give a little lighter lotion and is the same as Lotionpro165 found at Lotioncrafters.

I pick my emulsifier depending on what type of lotion I want to make whether I want a thick butter type, a fluffy butter type, a light facial lotion, or an all-around hand/body lotion. As with most the is no one-fits-all emulsifier.

Thanks for the helpful information! I've been reading a lot on the topic and that point never came up, so I really appreciate the distinction. :)

Thanks! I'm trying to make exactly what you're describing. Light and fluffy the main thing I want is no residue feeling. Thanks so much!
