at one time I had a customer whose doctor prescribed Tide to be used for her psoriasis.

My doctor recommended diluted Wisk for my oily hair 50+ years ago. Didn’t use it long because I didn’t like what it did to my scalp. Not exactly sure how bad it was for my hair . . . It was back in the days when we were actually ironing our long hair with an iron on an ironing board.

Ironing hair on an ironing board was really no different than using flat irons, the problem was temperature control... It also was not uncommon. I will mention some folks such as me are highly allergic to Pine Tar-based products, so doing a skin test first is advisable.

Probably, except irons are bigger and can likely do a lot more damage. Especially since you can't really see what you are doing if nobody is doing it for you.
