When I do swirled soap, I notice when I first cut the bars, that some of the colors are softer than the rest of the soap. They usually cure with time, but take longer and are very soft and fragile when you first get them out of the mold. Do some color additives just do that? I mostly use micas.

Haven't noticed the color affecting hardness but have definitely noticed it with some FO's. I've yet to get a hard bar if I add a coconut scent to soap. :x

There is no difference in hardness in my soaps that have colors including micas. How much mica to how much soap are you mixing?

I looked back at my notes, it actually happened twice when I used TD, once when i used a red oxide, a once when I used a yellow oxide. The TD was in all of the soap, since it is powder I used a teaspoon and put in 2 teaspoons for 51 oz of oil. The red and yellow were for swirls and I poured off some soap, probably around 9 oz, and added 1/2 teaspoon of oxide. When I unmoled I noticed that the colored swirls were softer thatn the rest of the bar. They are all curing now the TD soap are getting harder, and the swirled soaps just got put on the curing rack and I haven't checked them yet.

I dont notice in the final bar, but I do notice when I split and colour my batches, some colours come to trace much quicker than others. I havnt taken good enough notes to comment on which ones they are
