I was wondering if anyone here had diabetes and if so what were the onset of your symptoms?.
I've had a look on some sites regarding symptoms but I was curious as to which warning signs alerted you to the fact that something wasn't right.

Some time ago my husbands bloodsugar levels were extremely high. He wasn't diabetic yet, but the doctor said if he didn't change his lifestile and loose a lot of weight in a short period, he would definatly become diabetic soon.
We were very fast to get him checked out luckily. We found out something was wrong because he started to be a complete pain in the butt
Huuuge mood swings, was always tired, drinking and peeing a lot and the doctor said she thought his eyes didn't look normal to her. He was just generally not the same person... So really vague in his case. Like most signs with type 2.
-being thristy and pee a lot
-being tired
-problems with the eyes, like a burning sensation or seeing vaguely
-being short of breath of having pain in the legs while walking
-having more and/or returning inflamations
Type 2 doesn't make you really sick, so some people only find out after years.
Type 1 makes you feel really sick and rarely goes undiagnosed for more than a week or so.

Thanks Dagmar, i'm thinking I better book myself in to see a doctor to be safe.
I've been under alot of stress lately but nothing compared to in times past and these symptoms have been causing me some concern. :?

I was a diabetic therapist for many years. The key symptoms have already been mentioned. Extreme thirst is the number one concern. It is a powerful thirst that is not the same as just being thirsty. If you have diabetes, you will be acutely aware of the change that took place in your body resulting in this type of thirst. Dizziness happens too. Night sweats and waking up very thristy is a sign that there is diabetes present.

I do not have diabetes. I did have gestational diabetes and experienced many of the symptoms and know what they feel like. You must be checked by a physician.

If you do not have diabetes, but are borderline, you need to get involved in an exercise program at once. I would recommend this to anyone, but it is especially critical in preventing the onset on diabetes.

I too had gestational diabetes in two of my four pregnancies.
Not very nice, and I am thankful that I only had to endure it for a few months at a time, I imagine that it is not a very nice disease to live with full time. My dad has it, can't remember if he is type one or type 2, but he has a lot of other health issues, and the diabetes seems to be the icing on the cake.
I hope everything is ok with you GG. Get checked out ASAP so that you can rest your mind one way or another, either you haven't got it and something else is causing your symptoms, or you have and you can work out an appropriate plan of action to get it under control.

Thankyou everyone for your input it's really helped me to make up my mind to have it checked out as I was worried about overreacting.
I spoke to my Aunty last night and found out she has type 1 Diabetes and another Aunty also has it.
So it's off to the doctors I go, again, thankyou very much :D

I hope you are okay GG . I once had to go for the 3 hour test , not pleasant but not the worst thing. I went to my Dr. for the results , he said we should have done the 5 hour test  .No thank you .Everything was fine.

Sorry everyone for not writing back sooner as i've been really unwell and just been trying to rest, o.k. soaping addiction and rest don't mix well with me lol.
My daughters friend has been diagnosed with the swine flu so she and her family are house bound, my daughter is unwell and i've come down with something thats knocking me for a sixer so i'm off to the doctors to get to the bottom of this yuck feeling.
I almost decided not to go because my body seemed to be coming good from what I suspected could be diabetes that was until this morning when I woke up and my heart was racing beyond any normality and didn't settle for a few hours later so I will see if I can get in to see a doctor asap.
Will let you know when I hear back with the results, thankyou all very much for caring.

:( Oh, no! Hope you'll all feel better soon.
And sorry to say this, but you should have dragged your *** to a doctor 6 days ago, gavalanting gifts! Your health really should come first
