Ok, so I have been making CP soap since 2002. I love it. I make nice soap. Now I'm starting to sell my nice soap.

The last few days I've been playing with MP. I FREAKING LOVE IT.

It's easy to work with. I don't notice ANY difference in the way the soap feels. Even with my bestest most priciest oils. I'm using MP from WSP, the natural stuff. Both clear and white.

Now, I have my CP down to where I can produce a consistent batch, coloring, additives, all that. But it's a tedious process. I can make them all look the same, but sometimes it's a well choreographed dance.

Now that I've used the MP and learned how wonderfully easy it is to work with AND learned not to boil it, it's all I can think about! I lay awake at night thinking of all the wonderfully creative things I can do with it! (Thank you Tabitaha, Digit and Kathy!)

I respect all of you talented women, and men, too. To that end I would love to hear your views on the differences between MP and CP in any and all regards; marketing, selling, processing, costs, quality, creativity and stability.

Thank you all!

I think they're both great. I have used some wonderful MP soaps. The thing I like about M & P is that you can get so creative with it. It's art!! I can't tell you how many times I've just stood there admiring a bar of
M & P soap. It's absolutely beautiful!! I think pricing just depends on what you're doing. There are some M & P bars that I'd pay through the nose for, because they're so gorgeous.

Deda, I meant to ask you in the other thread about embeds. You do know you must mist your embeds w/ alcohol & embed them while the alcohol is still wet righ? If you do not use alcohol, the embeds or layers will pop apart & not adhere.

I prefer M&P because it is instant gratification. You can make the bars as you need them. You can actually presell & make the soap after the order has been places. W/ CP you have to make the soap 1st & then hope you can sell it.

you must follow your heart and make only yourself happy. for me it is a combination of therapy, creativity and an expression of love that calms me in a very stressful world.

Tab, I didn't know about the misting the embeds. Thank you. I have so much to learn about MP before I can sell it!

The soaps from the other thread are Promos that I am GIVING to SocialVibe It's just a way to help them, and maybe down the road help myself!

I can't stand how much fun it is. It's completely throwing off my business model...

Well, Deda....welcome to the "other side."

I just discovered how much I love CP.....after doing MP, for so long.

My business is built on MP...but I will be adding CP next year, if I can find good molds to give me well-shaped bars.

My clients are mostly corporate, so MP works because they place a big order for a conference or a retreat...and I can have it to them in a few days.

WSP has some nice basic shaped bar molds, 9 cavities for $15 & you get (3) 9 cavity molds for the price of (2) 9 cavity molds.

I would like a log and/or slab mold that produces square, say 3"x3", bars. I am a square kind of girl. Sigh............
