The second one looks nice and creamy. I like the color too.

The seized batch still looks pretty, though :)

How long do ya have to put it in a crock pot? For some reason my wife won't let me use one of hers

It might only take an hour or less. If you can't do that, then a double-boiler might work too. Just make sure the water is at a low simmer, rather than a full rolling boil.

Do you have a non aluminum pan you could stick in the oven? I've never done it but I've read from others here who use the oven to rebatch. Hopefully one jumps in. You can melt it down in the oven and then mold it.

going to have to invest in a crock pot or a dbl boiler but thunk it has been saved, find out in the morning

if it's done soap, I throw it in one of my stainless steel mixing bowls, and boil it down. i don't worry so much about rebatching b/c most of the lye is usually gone. just wash really REALLY well after you're done.

stop by a local goodwill store or similar store and pick up a used crock pot for your soaping. most of the stores have really affordable used crock pots and if it doesn't last too long, you won't be out very much and will be able to replace it several times before you reach the price of a new one. and your wife won't be upset with you for using hers.

I find soap melts down much better in the oven with no dry soaps around the edge. I always rebatch in the oven @ 170-200 degrees

cmz do you use a glass loaf pan or? and do you need to stir like a crock pot or dbl boiler?
ok here are finished still have some learning to do how to pretty them up. the rebatch sure looks diff. I checked it before I went to bed it was soft, a little worried but was hard this morning. the other is the 2nd batch

That's pretty typical for rebatch. Mine often looks like a formica countertop when I'm done. Cucumber FOs are often prone to acceleration or seizing. The rebatched batch looks fine; the other one is really nice and creamy looking.

your rebatch looks better than mine. I may have to do it in the oven next time I have to save a batch. congrats for saving it and turning it into a good looking batch of soap

Really nice job on that rebatch. I've never had to rebatch yet, but I'm sure the day will come soon. *sigh*

well I have to agree I do like to looks of the rebatch but been a few days and still soft but it works great small bubbles nice smell but pretty sure it won't get hard

I'm a freak who actually likes the look of rebatch. Yours looks great. If your non-rebatched soap hardens up, your rebatch should too (provided you didn't add a lot of extra oil to it). It just takes time.

no extra oils dropped it into dbl boiler added a touch of cream like a tbl spoon. see what happens in a few more days

I have a stainless dutch oven that I use just for rebatching in the oven. I stir once or twice while it is melting down. I also have an oven safe pan similiar to the one in your pic that I use for small batch melting in the oven. Love those glass pans for soaping and lip balm. Years ago I had a whole set of them and hated those pans for cooking, sure wish I had the whole set now! I have been watching yard sales and Goodwills for the glass pans

well the rebatch didn't hold up kinda fell apart in the water, wasn't really expecting much so not to disappointed
