Hubby made me an awesome wood mold. I used it for the first time last week.

I lined it, but I did not get crisp corners in the unmolded soaps? I folded the edges of my paper so it would fit inside.......and have corners.

I am really bummed.......does anyone have any good suggestions?

Hi,

I have made my own molds as well and what I have done to get rid of the round edges is to make a block of wood that just fits inside the mold. Then I wrap it tight with freezer paper except of course the top side of it. Then I run my thumb and index finger together tight to crease the edges. Slide out the block of wood and you have a perfect liner for your mold that will give you square edges. Happy soaping.

I use craft foam cut to fit the inside of my mold. There are 5 pieces - bottom, sides & ends. I cut them to fit in that order. They just peel off the log & I have perfectly crisp edges.

What is the thickness of your craft foam and does it matter if the foam is colored?
I'm sick to death of fighting with the darn paper and plastic!
Thanks!
Kelly

Foam works really well! I discovered this last week! I bought coloured foam from ebay 2mm thick and just laid it in the mould. It didnt leak and no, the colour doesnt come out either. My soap had perfectly squared edges! Brill!
