And I'm no expert @Meena haha still got loads to learn. Just sharing what I've found out from what little experience I have :)

You do two things I was just reading about night before last -- reserving water (I read 20%) and warming additives. I've used the yogurt (probably too cold when I added it) and it helped a bit, but David Fisher mixes the reserved heated water with the yogurt and mica colors, so that's what I'm going to try next.

I've always ended up having to throw in some more water during cook, so I gotta tighten that up / get that screwed down, as far as how much water I'm starting out with, and probably go back to the lidded method. I'm torn about stirring. @msunnerstood said she stirs a lot so uses more water, and she seems to get lovely fluidity, but others just let the soap do its thing and I find that interesting also.

Feel free to throw any HP tips my way, Dawni! I adore your red sandalwood soap, btw.

ETA: I didn't see @msunnerstood 's post, probably crossed as I was writing this. thanks for that tip! I will definitely stop worrying about stages and use this timing trick of yours.

@msunnerstood - Thank you! That is a good tip.

And when you say you bleed purple? A Transplanted Minnesotan? Packers RULE! :)

dem Vikings, doe ... :D

If I can get my soap to look remotely like this lovely lady's then I'm all set lol

I was torn about the stirring in the beginning too. The more batches you make you'll get a feel for it and you can decide which you like best. I personally am lazy haha.. Lazy to calculate proper "more water" and to keep going back to open and stir, so I stick to the "nomal water" and just peep from time to time.

And thank you :)

I Stir a lot because it more evenly cooks the batter And seems to reduce the time it takes to cook
Interesting.. I might have to experiment more with stirring more. How much "more water" do you use?

Not much at all, maybe a few tablespoons (Hot water). I keep the lid on in between stirs and Im not constantly stirring, maybe every 5 minutes.

Transplanted but forever loyal. PURPLE PRIDE!!

I understand, or have seen, that this helps a lot with achieving fluidity in HP -- Was there a difference before you stirred a lot, or have you always done it that way?

No I have tried both ways. I found with leaving it alone I wound up with lumps in my batter from the sides being over cooked. I dont think there is a best way to do it.. its what works best for you. I just know after much trial and error that this way works for me. I also dont listen to people who tell me this or that is not possible with HP :D its like being challenged to do it anyway lol

just found this

I say found - but it maybe @Dawni sent it to me? :)

she talks about tricks she has learned to improve her HP results and first one is "don't stir" LOL

DIfferent strokes....er, stirs?
That's where I got most of my tips from lol but I am nowhere close to achieving her level of swirls. Not even a mile away lol

It's very humid here.. And getting warmer now too. I haven't yet soaped in the summer. Should be interesting to see the difference.
