Greetings To All Fellow Soap Makers!
Does anyone know the best color/type to use to make a blue bar of soap? They all seem to turn purple/lavender. :? [/quote]

I haven't tried many blues myself, so I don't really know, but I can let you know after I soap with my blue pop mica! Hoping someone else will chime in too...

Absolutely! Blue ultramarine, super easy and super dependable!
If you don't mind a synthetic color :)

You can make it lighter or darker of course ~~

What have you tried?

I like blue ultramarine as well.

I haven't tried this myself so I can't give first hand advice, but if you are going for all natural with out using micas or dyes, then try Woad. It is suppose to give a beautiful sky blue and is lighter or darker depending on how much you use. Also indigo powder will give you a shade similar to denim again depending on how much you use as to how dark it will be. Here is a link to a soap supply site that carries both. I've been wanting to try them but haven't had a chance yet.

Thank You All!
I have only tried blue food coloring. Went to order blue mica from WSP and it said turns purple/lavender in CP soaps...
I'll try the WOAD... I'm open to synthetics... Even use LARD! Oh MY!

I've tried both indigo and woad in varying quantities. I get green, or greenish-blue. I'd love to be able to get a pale, baby blue color in my chamomile & lavender bar. No can do. Yellow+blue=green. Ugh.
