Made these a few days ago. The first is scented with Monkey Farts and the second one is scented with Forbidden Fruit. The first soap was supposed to be red and blue....nope. The second one was supposed to be yellow and purple and instead is yellow and blue. I just don't get this color thing!!! It's exasperating!

I think they are beautiful regardless. It looks purple in the pic though but I'm sure that's just the picture since you say it's blue.

Blue food color makes soap pink, then it fades to nothing.
Food color just doesn't work for high pH soap

I think they look lovely , I love the color on the top soap .At least when your colors morph you get a pretty color , I get the worst colors from morphing .

Thanks for your lovely compliments everyone. I used some powdered Micas (?) for these soaps. I'm determined to figure this color thing out.....The pinkish color was supposed to be RED. Oh well....

How much mica did you use? The pink color is what I've been looking for!

Shannon,

I didn't really measure but if I had to take a guess I would say about 1/2 teaspoon for 1 pound of oils.....it's just a guess though.

I don't know if it is possible to get a true red in cp soap ? Has anyone ever accomplished it that you have heard of ?

I havent had much success with micas. They mostly disappear on me. I think they're lovely, Sibi - even tho' they aren't what you planned. :)

(rubbing hands together in a James Bond villain way)... now I just need to get my hands on some red mica and my evil plans for world domination can begin...

(and I think I'll kill some more threads while I'm at it... I'm on a roll!!!(
