A final thought. I just read the article Lindy posted. Although the author states he is a MD, the article is biased and not entirely factual.

Buyer beware so to speak to anyone reading articles that profess to state facts regardless of the credentials cited by the author. The most obvious tip off in this article specifically would be the footer which states the copyright of this article is held by a cosmetic company which sells the ingredients written about in the article.

Always be sure to check your sources before determining fact.

Quite frankly there are no unbiased opinions out there as everyone has an agenda. We have to pick and choose who we believe and why. My agenda is to try and help newbies make a safe product. The closest I have seen to natural is Geoguard and it has ECO certification. Of course it is still a preservative which makes it evil in some people's eyes because they cannot accept that good manufacturing practices balance science with nature. Go too far one way or the other and you end up with a less than stellar product which may even be unsafe.

We could sit here, you and I, and beat this subject to death, but let me ask you, who benefits? Not I because I don't have to be right, I would prefer to be a voice that shares my experience and expertise. I don't work in a lab, other than my own, but just because one has lab experience does not automatically make them an expert cosmetic formulator.....

Lindy, i have very intentionally NOT bashed you in any way on this forum. You have unfortunately not given me the same courtesy. I would appreciate it if you stopped and will leave it at that. In my above post, i simply pointed out to other members of this forum, a fact regarding the credibility of the article you cited.

This is indeed an educational forum and if an article is being cited as fact, the readers should also know that the author is trying to sell his products via that article and it is infact a marketing tool. My comment was not addressed to you, and I only respond because again you dragged me back into it, and again i am not going to get into a preservative discussion.

Yes, there are unbiased opinions; they are called science. ... and no, i dont need to be right. infact i love being wrong because when i am it means i have an opportunity to learn. Again without attacking you personally, i am done with this inane exchange.
