Is palm kernel a good replacement for part? Also, how much canola for replacing some olive oil?

wow, coconut got more expensive than PKO. interesting. guess when I run out I'll consider switching - they may be interchangeable in soap formulas (with the appropriate lye calculations).

EVERYTHING is going up! ugh!! just when I get happy gotsta readjust :)

oh well..makes life exciting that way no??

luckily I bought a bunch of PKO-I ordered that instead of palm..go with the flow I guess ..hehe!!

ouch. their site had mentioned price increase was coming for CO, rats, wish i'd ordered sooner, but they probably still have the best price...

argh...you guys are such enablers...post something like price going up and you know you send all of us into a buying frenzy! hehe..

I'll be making test batches with palm kernel in place of coconut as soon as my studio is dug out.

Darn me for storing stuff off site. Bobdamnit.

just checked my receipt, I paid $53.50 for the 50 # co back in Aug. that's went up to $78.00 now (these prices don't include the shipping cost) that's a pretty big increase.

this is a chart detailing the price of copra over the last 30 years. the price will likely fall quickly once the new crops are ready for harvest. the weather in the region was horrid last season and the industry forecast a dramatic rise in prices early last summer.

fingers crossed!

That's great info Deda. You wouldn't happen to know when the new crop will be harvested do you? I almost placed a panic order last night thinking the prices might continue to go up but if they might go back down in the next few months maybe waiting would be better. Hmmm
