Wow, I have been buying coconut oil at the local grocery and the best I can find price wise is over five dollars a pound. I just make to give for family for gifts, but MAN it gets expensive after a few batches. Where do you all get your coconut oil? The on-line sales always charge so much for shipping it almost isn't worth it to me, bad part about living in the West. I would think there is a better place somewhere that offers a good price even with the shipping. What is YOUR favorite CO supplier?

I usually buy mine from Columbus Foods, or if I see that one of my regular online vendors is having a sale with a good price, I'll buy it from them. It's really worth it to buy it in bulk, especially since it has such a long shelf-life.

IrishLass :)

BB has CO for a lot less, pound per pound, but I guess you have to take shipping costs into consideration!
Also, check to see if the grocery store brand of CO is organic or not...

You might get a better deal on non-organic CO if you are able to find a middle-eastern, Indian grocery

Yup, columbus foods. Go ahead and get the 5 gallon bucket. It took me 5+ years to use up my last bucket, and it was good to the last scoop! Granted, I didn't COOK with it - I have a small container of Lou Ann coconut oil in the fridge that I use for cooking.

Another option might be a Cash and Carry. I got a gallon of "popcorn oil" at one - coconut oil with salt and beta carotene. As longas you don't mind all of your soap being orange!

If you have the space to store it, it's worth it to place a big order with Columbus every once in a while. I get all long-shelf life oils - I got coconut oil, cocoa butter, beeswax, castor oil, etc.

That amazon link is a great price! I usually get mine from WSP, I love the buckets it comes in. Use them around the farm alot. But... that one from Amazon is cheaper, so there is that, lol.

Check local restaurant oils supply companies. I have a local company that I can get 50 lbs for 55.00. I have also ordered from Columbus Foods and WSP when I first started.

Price of coconut oil has gone through the roof, now that it's everybody's "go to" oil. Geesh. When I started making soap, you could Louanna for like $2.

Thanks, I will check all this out..I will go to Walmart and check that out! And the one on Amazon is a good deal, so glad I asked this question!
