Hi,

I made a batch of soap that I'm not crazy about, and I'm thinking that I can cut it up into chunks and pour another soap recipe around it. This is possible, right? It is a tan color, and I'm thinking of pouring something creamy white around it, maybe with oatmeal even.

If this is possible, would you mind sharing some ideas or secrets? Or links? I'm not even sure what to search for because I don't know what it's called.

THANKS! :p

Yes yes and yes

Absolutely.
No probs. at all.
Just try to visualise the end result before beginning.Such as bigger chunks on the bottom. Smaller gratings up the top maybe.More smellies of course.
:p

There are a couple of ways you can do it. You can add your chunks to your soap pot and stir them in with your new batch before you pour it all into the mold, or you can kind of layer the chunks with the new soap. Pour a little soap, sprinkle some chunks, pour a little soap, sprinkle some chunks. I did this before to ensure even distribution of the chunks and it worked well.

Good luck!

instead of chunks, which can be challenging to arrange (they tend to compact more - you know, settle to the bottom and not stay piled up - I cut "sticks" of the soap and arrange those. get some pretty neat effects that way.

This isn't my best effort but you get the idea.

Carebear, I'd love to see a bigger pic of that swirled soap on the right. Looks great! :D
ask and ye shall receive...
(sorry it's so big - no time to resize right now)

I was wondering the same thing.

I've seen the tutorials where you put confetti etc in it. Do you have to wait for the soap to cool some or do you just drop them in and pour (if you're worried about placement etc)?

Okay, carebear......why don't you post more pics on the forum?! Your soaps are gorgeous! I would really like to see what you consider ''your best''...

Tanya :)
actually my style has become more simple - but I lost my camera a while ago so new pics will have to wait.

Seriously, those were my best at the time, but practice is a wonderful thing...

Carebear, I love it!! Is it a three or four colour swirl? What is it scented with ?You should stick with what you do so well, it's a really lovely swirl, and a great size soap too. Do you sell your soaps?

I made soap with chunks of another soap in it, I cut the soap up into 1/4 inch squares, then made my new soap base, got to thick trace, then put the cut up squares in, then poured in the mould. They stayed all the way through the soap, didn't sink to the bottom, I think it helps if you have it at thick trace, it holds the soap in place.
