Chrome utensils

Does any one know if you can use chrome plated utensils when mixing your raw soap batter?

The lye will dissolve the chrome and ruin the chrome plating. Just to make sure, I asked my chemistry professor today and he agreed with me.

Where was it that I read about somebody using a chrome plated refridgerator rack as a bbQ grill and died from a poison that was released into the food... :roll: That even sounds like something I would do.
