And this is my cat: Fusspot. He just appeared one day. Left his previous owners and came to live with us.
I am not allowed to throw that box away...

My Mia is like my best friend we do everything together she is very smart and very affectionate cat. I got her after my other cat I had died last Thanks Giving Day. Her name was Sasha too @MelissaG . My Mom's Dog chased her up a tree like 60 feet high and my son got a latter and put it against the tree and she got so scared she jumped out of the tree to her death. Now my mom's Dog got my new cat Mia and when I tried to grab her from the dog she freaked out and attacked me. I got bit and scratched every where and with in a couple hours the bite marks were getting infected so I had to the hospital. I can't believe that a infection can start so fast and take over like that thank goodness for antibiotics. If you ever get bit by a cat go to the hospital immediately. My Dad also almost died from a cat bite. The hospital told me the shape of a cats teeth actually inject bacteria into the bottom of the wound and that's why cat bites are so bad. When I was bit I washed with soap, alcohol and polysporin with antibiotics and it still got infected. So yah cat bites are dangerous. So here is a picture of My Mia!View attachment 72503
Oh I am so sorry. I've never heard of a cat jumping to their death like that. Usually they feel safe when they're in a tree. Poor baby. I wish I could hug her for you.

I've been bitten so many times by cats, it doesn't faze me. I did get cat scratch fever once though. We were at the vet and Sasha freaked out so bad, she bit and scratched the heck out of me. It shocked me so much I almost passed out because she'd never done that before. I ended up draining the wound myself a couple hours later and then heading to the doctor. I was on antibiotics for a while.

I haven't been able to convince myself to get a new cat. I love them very much but it still feels like I'd just be trying to replace my beautiful girl and I can swear she's still here. My husband and I both hear her and see glimpses of her. A few weeks ago, I could swear she was sitting right now to me purring really really loud.

Awe I feel what your saying too, even though I got a new cat I still really miss my Sasha Too!

This is Mr. Spock, the highly illogical cat. Please ignore all the junk on the countertop in the background….keeping house is not my forte..…

And this is Princess Leia Sky (the name makes more sense if you know that A. My husband is obsessed with Star Wars, and B. My last name is Walker 😁). She decided she wanted to sit in the thyme plant that was wintering in my bathtub…..

gorgeous eyes!!

@MelissaG I know it's a horrible thought to replace a pet with another one. But I kind of learned from losing a Cat and getting a new one it doesn't replace them there a new addition to my family. So if you look at it as a new addition instead of a replacement it makes it easier and when the new one goes they will all be playing together in kitty heaven and when you get to heaven you will have all your pets back together lol. My thought and your Sasha was a very beautiful Cat.

Right, this is the thread for me - my "gallery" app is 90% cats, my own plus fosters... Buckle up, this could be a long post!

This is Mishka, his name means 'little bear' and it suits him. Cuddly and fluffy, but won't hesitate to use his claws if provoked.

Levi is a toothless, elderly permanent foster. When he arrived, he had so many health issues that I knew we'd struggle to find him a home, so I asked if he could stay with us. The rescue pays for his vet bills and specialist food, but he's our cat in all other ways.

This cheeky boy is Bandit. He and his w brothers arrived just over a year ago as tiny 7 week old kittens. The brothers found a home together, and he stayed with us.

Harley was a foster fail a couple of years ago. Very sweet girl. She was supposed to be moving on to another rescue who had a family ready to adopt a cat like her. When the time came to hand her over, I was crying to much the director of the other charity asked if I'd like to keep her.

Freya is a grumpy old girl who loves to sit on humans. She's not keen on other cats, which is why I took this photo - she was only only on the bed with other cats, but even playing a bit with Levi's tail when he flicked it.

IMG_20230115_130746__01__01.jpg
This is Jellybean who passed a few months ago from kidney cancer - this photo was taken just a couple of weeks before. He was a sweet boy who didn't really know how to cat. He wanted to be friends with other cats, but would misunderstand their body language and cause conflict.

Macavity was my first cat, my heart cat. He passed away during the summer lockdown of 2020, and I was distraught. 🥺😥

Above are all our cats.
Not sure how many photos I can put in one post, so I'll include a few pics of current and recent fosters in a second post! 😆

Part 2 : foster cats - a selection!
IMG_20230423_095426__01__01.jpg
Sparky is my current foster. He came to me after he was diagnosed with diabetes at a vet visit where he tried to kill the vet and had to be sedated! His original foster mum wasn't confident doing injections, especially for a cat who is big and intimidating, despite being elderly...
He was an owner surrender, and looking at the note she passed on, it's not surprising he acted like that at the vet or that he has diabetes. He has trauma from a number of vet visits years ago, and was fed only crappy dry food plus crisps!
After he settled and I cautiously figured out his body language, I'm able to do his insulin jabs twice daily, and he comes to me for a fuss when he wants it. I'm not going to be able to do ear-prick glucose tests, so I've ordered some urine test strips. They're far less accurate but should hopefully give us an idea if the insulin dose is close. He'll be looking for a new home in a week or two I think.

This sweetheart is Katie, my previous foster and also a "sugar cat" (diabetic). She's incredibly loving and found a wonderful family with diabetes experience to take her on as a permanent foster. 😊

Popeye was the foster before. We thought he'd found a good home, but the silly person decided to smoke out the window a few days after adopting him, and he escaped! The new owner gave up looking for him after a few days, so we're having to put up posters and find volunteers to put flyers through letter boxes in the area where he's been seen. Sadly, he's in survival mode and runs away from people, so we need to find someone in the area who would be willing to set up a feeding station... 😥🤞

This guy is Noctis (was originally Milo), and he was my first ever foster kitty about 3.5 years ago. He was adopted by my friends who were in the process of buying their first house, and they adopted him the day after they moved in. He's staying with me for a few weeks while his parents are on holiday. I think he was giving me a hint here - that's his carrier and I think he wants to go home!

I have so many more foster kitty photos, but I wanted to share these instead because I think they're hilarious! (I made them for a fundraiser recently...) IMG_20230412_121305.jpg
Cat butt cookies! 🤣
I saw the cookie cutter on one of those cheap sites and had to have it...

This is Rosie (13yrs) she likes to shred things when she's bored. Climb on the chicken coop roof while meowing like she needs help, but teasingly walk away when you put a ladder up to get her. She loves climbing ladders and trees. She talks to us, using different tones. She has a sad meow, when told to get down, and a scolding voice when we take too long to let her in the house. She likes going for walks with us. She does come most of the time when called, well unless you told her not to go outside and she snuck past you. Oh and she announces herself(MEOW) whenever she goes through a doorway. I leave pill bottle covers on all the horizontal surfaces just for her, in the hopes she won't take my pencils. She hates our other cat(Penelope), the feeling is mutual.

This is Penelope(14yrs+), she is the master of my daughter. If anyone is in the living room she ignores them and claws my daughters door, for food, attention, to be let outside or anything else she thinks needs to be done. If I speak to her for clawing the door she will come be petted but as soon as I stop she runs back to the door. For the longest time she would insist on being fed in the middle of the night if one of the 2 food bowls were empty enough to see the bottom. Now they get home canned chicken and broth a couple times a day, so the chances of a glass bowl sitting empty is finally ok with her. They were getting mostly dry food before, they still get some dry food. She is the boss!

How do you get 13 to tolerate each other? It took my two cats half a year just to be in the same room, and now they make sure to chase away anything with a tail that comes within sight of the house…
Only humans and hedgehogs get a free pass.
We have a few dust ups a week, but everyone lives their own life to the fullest. All are rescues - they work it out and no one gets hurt. I have 1 male who is really bonded to me, so I tell him to chill out several times a day.

I was raised with cats since birth, their language is my second one. Both body placement and sounds are used to set the tone of our conversations.

Add in the 15 parrots and we have a wonderful, noisy home!

11 CATS. Oh the disruption lol. Just one of them can cause such a huge mess. Me yelling when I heard a bang or something "Sasha what'd you do?" was a normal occurrence. Her answer was always a little "meow". I can't imagine 11.
