my stick blender broke right after i put the lye mix in the oils! i ended up having to drag out my mixer and blend it. i poured and it was full of air bubbles so i dont know if it will look ok or not. but at least i didnt have to whisk it ....

You'd better get to the shops today, can't do without that stick blender.
Glad you saved the soap though. :)

I had my own catastrophe today. Not with my stick blender but with my soap. It seized. Solid. Hopelessly solid. It looked like lumpy mashed potatoes. Too think and solid to do anything with and I thought I would have to throw 3 lbs. of soap away. But I didn't. :D

I dumped the horrible mess in my soap pot with a little water and put it in the oven on 220 for about 15 - 20 minutes. When I took it out of the oven and stirred it with a wisk, it was the consistency of apple sauce so I was able to pour it. I have no idea what it will come out looking like, or if it will be worth a crap, but I made it through my first soap seize.

Kinda looks like ham...

Nice save! I think it looks like cotton candy.

Thanks for saying it looks like cotton candy but unfortunately it really does look like something out of the deli department right now. Oh well, it was more of a learning lesson for me anyway.

I tested the soap this morning and to my surprise, I think it may turn out to be one of the best soaps I think I have ever made. It produced small luxurious creamy bubbles and left my hands feeling great.

i think it looks like cotton candy too. i had a batch that overheated and volcanoes right out of the mold within 30 seconds of pouring it, i scooped it into my bowl and stirred like crazy. it ended up being my favorite batch to this day. every time i pick up the bar, it is supper silky and slippery and makes wonderful lather. Congrats on your save!

See... those happy mistakes can turn out great!

I know this is going to sound crazy but I am going to try to recreate it again.

Honestly, I think they look great! Even the light swirls really add to the look! Nicely done! I wish my failures looked like that!

Good for you! I kinda had to laugh about the ham bit. Thought maybe you could contact the Spam museum to see if they might purchase the whole loaf from you!!

Too funny. When I told my husband that I thought it looked like ham, the first thing out of his mouth was Mmmm, Spam.

I'm so very thankful for the sense of humor people on this forum display. I'm working with a bunch of people who obviously don't know how fun it is to make jokes (especially about ourselves!) Thanks for a giggle today
