Still don't have my HP swirls, but at least I have batteries for my
thermometer now. NEXT weekend I'll work on swirls.
This is at 40% water and I noticed no difference in the hardness
of the bars when I cut than when I cut the bars with 38% water.

This is "Spring Fresh" with Peak Spring Rain FO.
I used various shades of eyeshadow for the colors.
Made 6 pots. Put the FO and color in the pots.
Divided the soap between the 6 and poured
alternately.....still too hot I might add. LOL
..and the purple and blue eyeshadow turned green!

No, I meant how do you do your HP...crock pot, oven, stove-top...

I did mine in the crock today on low for 1 hour. I only did a 1 pound batch (1 lb of oils) and I never seem to get an 'island' or the soap turning over onto itself like that time-lapse video showed, but after an hour, when I stir it gently-- it's all gelled like vaseline so I guess it's done!

Sounds like yours was done.

I use a large oval crock pot on high for a 3 lb. batch and it's done 45 min - 1 hr. Maybe the pot needs more volume for the island and "turn over" deal?

It don't always take that long to cook......sometimes mine does like the island thing....but sometimes it doesn't bubble up the sides, it all just turns into like a translucent gel...but I like the end result of the soap better when it does that....rather than when it bubbles up on the sides and turns in on itself.

Not sure if it is the temp of the crock ? or the oils and lye when I put them in there that makes it do different.

Doing HP, I don't worry as much on the temps...my oils are usually just fairly warm.......and since I do my lye with ice instead of water...it is usually not real hot when I add it in.

There is always lots to learn with HP and CP I think. And no matter how much we think we know......there is always more to learn ! I love the ideas that are shared on this forum.

Forgot to say Castorfan.....I love your soaps as always, they are really pretty. You do an awesome job ! I always enjoy looking at your photo's.

Thanks, gang. I'm trying to learn HP so any tips of how to
make a smooth mixture that swirls on top would be appreciated.

PS Already using sodium lactate, sugar, crock pot and water 40%

Love your soaps!! I have not done too well with the HP but maybe I should practice more. I think yours looks great.
